The Corrs - Runaway
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love this song. I love the balance of beautiful vocals lyrics and instrumentation. Runaway is a song I used to sing all of the time and holds a nostalgic place in my heart.
Foo Fighters - MIA
I love Dave Grohl’s range. He can create the sweetest most delicate melody and also powerful rock anthems, MIA sits perfectly somewhere in the middle. It’s a song about feeling hopeless and wanting to be lost.
Crowded House - Better be home soon
It feels like an open letter to help a friend, loved one or even yourself when you are struggling with life. It shows sometimes when people think they’re being covert true friends can see through that and want to help.
Enya - Watermark
I love the fact that there are no lyrics or words in this song and still It’s incredibly atmospheric and moving. It has a great rhythm and movement. I could listen to the song on repeat for the rest of my life be very happy.
Tenacious D - Tribute
This song showed me that music can be good, funny and entertaining. It doesn’t have to take itself too seriously. The whole album is full of funny well written tracks.
Joni Mitchell - Blue
I love Joni Mitchell’s use of storytelling and her lyrics which are insightful. I love how she uses her voice like another instrument. She plays with different genres and shows strength in her vulnerability.
Green Day - When I come around
It captures the frustration of youth. Wanting to be left alone and becoming self-aware of how unfair the world can be and all the things we lack. I love the authentic, raw honesty.
Ben Howard - Oats In the Water
I love the dramatic tension in this song. The build start to finish is so impressive. It feels like you’re in the middle of a storm.
Jose Gonzalez - Hand on your heart
I’m a big fan of Kylie Minogue and when I heard this cover, I fell in love. The switch of genres making it acoustic completely changed the whole song, From a up-tempo pop song to a melancholic folk song so effortlessly.
Alannah Myles - Black Velvet
I love a power ballad. There’s something so impressive when someone is able to really push their vocals and hit notes powerfully and this is my go to karaoke track.
