Static Vision

Static Vision are a three-piece rock band from Limerick, Ireland.

The band is led by Cian O' Dowd (Guitar, Vocals) brother Tom O' Dowd (Bass) and Toby Shane (Drums). Since Cian O' Dowd started the band in 2017 the only consistent members have been his brother and himself. Their first EP "Faith in the Future" was released in late 2019 as the original band fell apart. After a long period of trying to find a new drummer, Toby Shane joined and quickly the trio clicked having been playing all around Ireland in venues such as The Button Factory, Whelans, Roisin Dubh, Dolans, Fred Zeppelins and more. They also released a new EP "New Beginnings" with lots more new music on the way this summer in 2023!

  • Brick is Red - The Pixies

The Pixies are the whole reason our band exists. When I first heard their music I knew that's the sound I want to make for my band. This song was the last song on their first album and by far the best hidden gem out there.

  • Sooner - Slowthai

I love how much Slowthai worked on his latest album. You can tell he made the album he wanted to make and that rawness can be heard in all the tracks. It's refreshing to hear an artist be personal and honest with his lyrics. This song is my favourite this year so far.

  • The Suburbs - Arcade Fire

Talk about nostalgia. This song always takes me back to growing up, In my dads car where he would play all types of albums for years with my brother Tom. Their earlier albums are just masterpieces. This band will always hold a special place in my heart.

  • Unsatisfied - The Replacements

I remember Tom, Toby and I being stoned watching The Replacements documentaries during lockdown and laughing so hard at how they named their album 'Tim' as a joke and instantly regretted it when it came out. This song though can really sum up how low life can feel sometimes when you are chasing a dream so hard and it never seems to work out no matter how hard you try. Any dreamer can relate to this I'm sure, even John Lennon!

  • Shady Lane - Pavement

When I write songs I always look for as much of a melody hook as I can and it's from hearing songs like this that definitely inspired that. Pavement were the best indie band of the 90s for sure. It's shocking how good all their songs sound. The ultimate DIY band too as they recorded and mixed everything themselves.

  • Turning Blue - Jay Retard

This man is the stuff of legend. It's so sad he passed away at 29 just as he was making his best music. His album 'Blood Visions' is my favourite record of all time. The energy and melody this man created was unmatched. There will never be another like him.

  • Rosalie - Thin Lizzy

One of the most underrated hits of all time. This band was the coolest there ever was. We are huge Thin Lizzy fans. The new documentary on youtube 'Outlawed' is a must watch for any music fan. Their story and music is just amazing. Power man, raw power!

  • EMI - Sex Pistols

Was there anyone who ever did it better than the Sex Pistols? Don't think so.

  • Mr Blue Sky, ELO

If there was one act to see dead or alive it would be no other than Rory. This man is the backbone to the passion we have as Irish musicians. He brought the blues and guitar playing.

  • Aneurysm - Nirvana

Every real Nirvana fan knows this is their best song. This band inspires us so much. As being a 3 piece ourselves we love how loud they sounded and tight all those years until they jammed with Pat Smear. They changed everything by bringing Grunge and Hard Rock to the masses.
